Woody Allen

Woody Allen
Director of Ancillary Operations, The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge

Allen supports the operations of The Golf Club at Ballantyne, The Spa at Ballantyne and Dana Rader Golf School. He plays an integral role in strengthening internal relationships, maintaining high service and quality standards and improving profitability across the ancillary businesses. Most recently, Allen served as director of golf at The Golf Club at Ballantyne. He also held positions as director of sports and leisure at The Ballantyne, as well as head golf professional and assistant golf professional at The Golf Club at Ballantyne.

Marvin O. Burch, CHS-III

Marvin O. Burch, CHS-III
Director of Security

Burch is responsible for overseeing the safety as well as implementing security strategies for Ballantyne Corporate Park to include managing the Security team. Previously, he held the same role at The Bissell Companies. Prior to joining Bissell, Burch served as security manager at EquiFirst Corporation. He also was an investigator for CMS Law Enforcement. Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate security at Duke Energy. In addition, Burch served as a reserve deputy sheriff at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years.

Nicole Clyburn

Nicole Clyburn
General Manager, Staybridge Suites Charlotte Ballantyne

With 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Clyburn oversees all operations of Staybridge Suites Charlotte Ballantyne and leads efforts in further elevating the hotel’s quality and service standards. Previously, Clyburn held the same position at The Bissell Companies. Prior to joining Bissell Hotels, she worked as front office manager at Charlotte Marriott City Center. In addition, Clyburn held positions as director of services and housekeeping manager at the property. Earlier in her career, she worked at The Breakers in convention sales.

Clifton Coble

President, Development

With more than 19 years of commercial real estate experience, Coble oversees all commercial development projects for Northwood Office. Previously, he held the same role at The Bissell Companies. Under Coble’s leadership, more than five million square feet, which includes two million square feet of LEED® Gold speculative office space, and four hotels, have been developed in Ballantyne. This represents one of the largest commitments to sustainable development in the nation. Coble is the immediate-past President of NAIOP Charlotte and is very involved in the U.S. Green Building Council, Urban Land Institute (ULI) Charlotte District Council, Real Estate & Building Industry Coalition (REBIC) and the U.S. Green Building Council.

Ned Curran

Ned Curran
President

With a career in commercial real estate and accounting spanning nearly 40 years, Curran oversees strategy and daily operations of Northwood Office. Previously, he was President & CEO of The Bissell Companies. Prior to joining Bissell, Curran worked at McDevitt Street Bovis (MSB) as Vice President – Taxes. In this position, he coordinated oversight of the company’s substantial real estate portfolio of office, retail and multi-family properties. Before working at MSB, Curran began his professional career as a CPA with Ernst & Young, where he served as Director of Tax for the Charlotte office. Curran serves on the board of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and is the past chair of the North Carolina Board of Transportation and the past chair of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

Director of  Engineering

Fida is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the entire property services portfolio, including Ballantyne Corporate Park, SouthPark Office Properties, Providence Park and Airport Center.

Peter Grills

Peter Grills
General Manager, The Ballantyne 

With 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Grills oversees all operations of The Ballantyne, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Prior to being named general manager, he served as hotel manager. Grills joined The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge as director of food & beverage. Previously, he held the same position at The Bissell Companies. Before joining Bissell Hotels, he managed the food and beverage operations for Bank of America. Earlier in his career, Grills was regional manager for Morton’s and opened the Uptown Charlotte location.

Ted Mueller

Ted Mueller
Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Operations 

With 15 years in IT and finance, Mueller leads all IT operations and the IT team for Northwood Office. He also served in this capacity at The Bissell Companies. Prior to coming to Bissell, Mueller led a global consulting team of 130 supporting a major Charlotte-based financial services company.  Additionally, he spent 11 years with Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Mueller held multiple positions at Starwood, including corporate IT director for new builds and transitions, area IT director for the Caribbean and South Fla., and director of IT at the Westin Charlotte.

Tom Pizzo

Tom Pizzo
President, Property Services

With more than 19 years of commercial real estate development and management experience, Pizzo is responsible for property management and interior construction, along with the three corporate shared services divisions of engineering, IT and security. In this capacity, he oversees the operations of over six million square feet of Class A commercial office space in Charlotte, NC. Pizzo is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), receiving his Accredited Commercial Manager Designation in 2009. He is also a four-year board member of the Ballantyne Chapter of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

Jessica Steves

Jessica Steves
General Manager, Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Ballantyne

Steves manages and oversees operations of the hotel, talent selection and training of all hotel associates. In addition, she works with the Courtyard team to ensure high guest satisfaction and maintain top quality standards. Most recently, Steves served as assistant general manager at Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Ballantyne. Steves also worked as front office manager and sales manager for the property. Previously, she held the same position at The Bissell Companies. Prior to joining Bissell Hotels, she held customer service representative positions at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Worthington, Ohio and The Fawcett Hotel and Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio.

David Strawn

Senior Vice President & General Counsel

Strawn is responsible for all legal matters associated with the organization. Most recently, Strawn served in this capacity at The Bissell Companies. Prior to that, Strawn ran a private practice, under the name of David V. Strawn, P.C., concentrating in real estate. During this time, he represented Bissell, Marsh and others in commercial leasing and related areas. Strawn has been Bissell's lead attorney on leasing matters for decades. Prior to managing his private practice, Strawn served Vice President and General Counsel at Bissell. Before initially joining Bissell, he operated as a solo practice. Strawn is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Christina Thigpen

Christina Thigpen
Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Thigpen oversees strategic communication efforts for the Ballantyne portfolio, including commercial development, office leasing, property services, hotels, golf, spa and Ballantyne Magazine. Previously, she held the same position at The Bissell Companies. Prior to that, Thigpen served as director of marketing & public relations for the organization. Thigpen joined Bissell as public relations manager at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge. Earlier in her career, Thigpen worked in entertainment marketing at Edelman and corporate communications at Lifetime Television. She is president of PRSA Charlotte and chair of the Ballantyne Chapter of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

Tim Toohey

Tim Toohey
Director of Food & Beverage, The Ballantyne 

With more than 20 years of culinary experience, Toohey has an extensive background ranging from luxury hotels to global corporate dining. Prior to joining The Ballantyne, Toohey served as Corporate Executive Chef for Bank of America – Merrill Lynch in London. Originally from Australia, Toohey has held culinary positions at the Five-Star Park Hyatt Hotel in Canberra and the Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

Rhonda Walcott

Rhonda Walcott
Vice President & Controller

Walcott is responsible for the general accounting, financial reporting and budgeting/forecasting functions at Northwood Office. Previously, she held the same position at The Bissell Companies. Prior to joining Bissell, Walcott served as director of finance for the retail division at Crosland. Walcott previously held various accounting management positions in manufacturing, technology and chemical industries. Walcott is a NC Certified Public Accountant.

Rebecca Whitmarsh

General Manager, Aloft Charlotte Ballantyne

Whitmarsh oversees all major operations of the hotel, develops the team, and creates and maintains quality, customer service and financial targets. Whitmarsh most recently served as assistant general manager at Aloft Charlotte Ballantyne. Before joining the Aloft team, Whitmarsh served as director of sales at Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Ballantyne. Earlier in her career, she worked as a sales manager at Hilton Lake Placid Resort in Lake Placid, NY.

Terry Young

Terry Young
Managing Director - Human Resources

With 23 years of experience in employee relations, recruitment, training, policy development and benefits administration, Young oversees all employee-based initiatives on behalf of Northwood Office. Previously, she held the same position at The Bissell Companies. Prior to that, she served as director of human resources for Bissell Hotels. Young joined Bissell as director of human resources at The Park Hotel. Young also worked as director of human resources at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif. Earlier in her career, Young was human resources manager at global manufacturer CUI.
